Afnan perfumes have quietly become the bottles people in Oman keep restocking, and it isn't hard to see why. You get big projection and proper staying power without paying designer money for it. I spent about a week each wearing this shortlist around Muscat, through the sticky coastal afternoons and a few cooler evenings, just to see which ones held up. A couple faded faster than I wanted. The four below didn't.
Afnan sits in that gap between Arabian houses and Western designer style, so the range runs from fresh daytime citrus to sweet night-out sugar to dressier woody stuff. If you are mostly shopping for him, the house leans heavily into the kind of bold projection that does well in the men's perfumes aisle, but two of my four picks are unisex. Here is how I would choose between them depending on where you are headed.

This is the one most people mean when they talk about Afnan. It opens sweet and a little sharp, apple and cinnamon over bergamot, then settles into vanilla, tonka and amber that smells far pricier than what you actually pay. Projection is loud for the first couple of hours, so go easy with two sprays, and it sits close to the skin for a good 8 hours after that. The apple sweetness leans young, which is my one gripe if you want something serious, but for dinner and shisha on a cooler Muscat night it pulls compliments without trying. Just keep it for the evening, since it can feel heavy in full daytime heat.

If 9PM is the night, 9AM is the morning version, and it is the one I would actually reach for most days here. Mandarin and cardamom open it bright with a little spice, then green apple and orange blossom keep it clean instead of sugary. It reads fresh in Muscat humidity rather than turning cloying, which is exactly what you want for an office scent, and it still holds 8 to 10 hours, rare for something this light. The catch is that it plays safe, so nobody is going to stop you in the corridor over it. For a daily wear, that restraint is sort of the point. It is one of the easier Afnan perfumes to wear no matter the season.

|
Rebel takes the 9PM idea and makes it fruitier and more playful. Pineapple and Granny Smith apple hit first, then a caramel and oakmoss base stops it from being pure candy. It is strong, genuinely long lasting, and smells more expensive than the price suggests, which is the whole appeal. Being unisex, it sits just as easily in a women's perfumes rotation, though projection does dip a little after the opening hour, so it is better suited to a weekend night out than a long formal event. If you found the original 9PM too cinnamon-heavy, think of this as the easier, sweeter cousin.

This is the Afnan to wear when you actually need to look put together. It is a fruity-chypre, so pineapple and bergamot up top, then white flowers, amber and a dry oakmoss base that gives it a grown-up, slightly green feel. It carries well across a room, lasts a full working day, and suits weddings, Eid gatherings or a formal majlis far better than the sweeter 9PM line. Imran Fazlani built this as part of the Supremacy run, and you can tell in how polished the drydown is. My only note is that it is less of an instant crowd-pleaser than 9PM, so it rewards people who like a drier, dressier scent. You can find it and the rest of the lineup on the Afnan perfumes page at V Perfumes Oman, with free delivery on orders over OMR 20 and cash on delivery if you would rather pay at the door.
Most of them are, yes. The four here all sit at roughly 8 hours or more on skin, with 9AM stretching to 8 to 10 hours even though it is the lightest of the bunch. Two sprays go a long way in Oman heat, so you rarely need to over-apply.
For daily and office use, 9AM is the easiest call. It stays fresh in Muscat humidity and reads clean rather than sweet, so it works through a long, warm day. If you want something with more presence after dark, 9PM is the better evening choice.
That is really their reputation. Afnan perfumes give you designer-style projection and longevity at a wallet-friendly price, which is why they sell so well across the GCC. You are paying for the juice and the performance, not a luxury markup.
You can order Afnan perfumes online from V Perfumes Oman and have them delivered across Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and the rest of the country. Delivery is free on orders over OMR 20, and cash on delivery is available if you prefer to pay when it arrives.
By Ibrahim Abdul Salam, Fragrance Specialist. I wore each of these for about a week in Muscat's humidity, plus a few cooler evenings, to judge how they really sit on skin through an Omani day rather than just on a paper strip.
