YSL Libre Intense is the more sensual reworking of the original Libre eau de parfum, composed by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm.

Tangerine, bergamot and lavender make up the opening. The heart is jasmine sambac, orange blossom and an orchid accord. Tonka bean, vanilla, amber gris and vetiver form the base.

The interesting part is the lavender. Paired with tonka bean, lavender is the classic backbone of the fougère family, a style most people meet in men's barbershop scents. Libre Intense carries both, lavender up top and tonka at the bottom, yet the brand files it as floral, because the whole middle is white flowers. The orchid is listed as an accord, which means it is built from several materials, not extracted from the flower itself. Down in the base, tonka and vanilla sit side by side and both push warmth and sweetness, so the dry-down leans creamy. You won't find oud or any fruit note in the composition.
