Armani Sì Passione is the eau de parfum that took the Sì line in a fruity floral direction.

Blackcurrant liqueur, pear and pink pepper open it. The heart is all flowers: rose de mai absolute, red rose absolute, jasmine and heliotrope. Patchouli oil, vanilla and cedarwood make up the base.

Look closely at the heart and you will see rose twice. Rose de mai and red rose are both listed as absolutes, the concentrated extract perfumers reach for when they want a flower to read rich and full, and placing two of them side by side stacks the rose effect on top of itself. Heliotrope is the other material worth knowing. It has a soft, almond-like, slightly powdery smell, and it does a quiet job here, linking the florals to the vanilla waiting in the base so the move from heart to dry-down feels gradual. What you will not find is oud, musk or any citrus.
