Very Good Girl is a women’s eau de parfum from Carolina Herrera, a flanker of the original Good Girl in the same stiletto bottle, this time with a red-lacquered interior.

Red currant and lychee open it, and Carolina Herrera calls both of them juicy. The heart is rose and lilly. Underneath, vanilla bourbon sits with vetiver.

Read the family label closely, because it leaves something out. Carolina Herrera files Very Good Girl as ambery fruity woody. The fruit is the top. The woody part rests on vetiver alone, which the brand describes as earthy and credits with the woody finish, and the ambery part comes from the vanilla. Flowers are not in the label at all, yet the heart is rose and lilly and nothing else. With only six notes, two per tier, no stage has anywhere to hide. When the fruit fades you get the flowers plainly, and the dry-down is a two-note pairing of something sweet and something dry.
